Something Real is a beautiful series of melancholy photos created by Romain Laurent that depict a man walking along the crowded streets of New York, isolated from his surroundings by a delicate soap bubble that completely surrounds his head.

The bubble feels like a dreamy version of an astronaut’s helmet until the moment it bursts. At that instant of release it feels more like the bubble might have been symbolic of a man trapped inside his own thoughts. Then again, perhaps he just ran into a bit of difficulty blowing bubbles. Whatever the meaning behind these images, we think they’re wonderful.
